CAR WEEK : GUMBALL 3000

The first place prize for the 1971 Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash - Los Angeles to New York race was a gumball dispenser. This race spurred movies such as The Cannonball Run with Burt Reynolds and the 1976 film, The Gumball Rally. Drawing inspiration from the real 1970's race and the aforementioned movies, Maximillion Cooper started the current rally version of the race in the summer of 1999. Gumball 3000 has been an incredible success and has since gained the reputation as road race for the modern era.
